Clinical case
E.max crown on a molar
E.max crowns · Restorative dentistry

BeforeAfterPatient concern
A back tooth with a large old filling that had begun to break down.
Clinical assessment
The remaining tooth structure could not be predictably restored with direct filling material. Bite loading was assessed before the restoration was designed, since a posterior ceramic placed into an unmanaged bite will fracture.
Treatment rationale
Full coverage was needed to protect the remaining tooth. The preparation removed only the surface required for the material thickness, and the crown was bonded and the bite adjusted at fit so load is distributed across the tooth rather than concentrated on a cusp.
